Welcome to my Tamagotchi homepage! This is a site dedicated to my love of all things Tamagotchi. I hope you enjoy your visit here whether you're a Tamagotchi fan or not!
Tamagotchi is a media franchise that I have a lot of second hand nostalgia for. As a kid they were ubiquitous; every kid knew what they were. I grew up in the era when they were originally being released, but never personally owned a Tamagotchi device. Toys were pretty heavily gendered at the time and unfortunately Tamagotchis were divvied into the girls category. Being acutely aware at 7 years old of how emasculating it would be to be caught with a Tamagotchi, I decided it would be best to just enjoy them vicariously through my best friends, who were girls. While I never had one as a child I was hyper aware of them because I thought they were so cool. That sentiment never passed, and I never grew out of playing with toys, though I did grow out of strictly adhering to gender expectations.
It was around 2017 that I finally got my very own Tamagotchi. It was a re-release P2 with leopard print that I bought brand new at GameStop. I had a lot of fun with it for a few months and then got bored with it. From then on it was relegated to being a decoration that hangs from my game boy carrying case. I had done some research and wanted to get into the Tamagotchi connections but any of the shells I liked were a bit too pricey for me to justify.
In 2024 my three year old daughter found my Tamagotchi and asked about it. I was excited to start caring for a Tama again, while also introducing it to a new generation. She started to ask for her own, so I decided to see what new shells were available. While on the Tamagotchi website I saw that they had finally rereleased the Tamagotchi Connection. I immediately rushed out and got the Clear Retro shell from Best Buy. The Hello Kitty Nanos had also just been released, so I bought the blue one at Barnes and Noble. That summer we bought two more P1s as well. At one point I was running a Connections, my fourteen year old daughter was running the Hello Kitty Nano, and my four year old daughter was running the P2. It was a very Tamagotchi summer in our household and now I'm officially hooked!
My Tamagotchi journey is just beginning but I just know it's going to be a long wonderful ride!
